Remember the days when you could catch a fish from the wharf, when
you knew all your neighbors and when the pace of life was more relaxed,
days governed by wind and tide rather than the clock? Some say that
travelling to Pitt Island is like stepping back in time, in the very
best sense.
With its majestic cliffs, rugged scenery, bush reserves and natural
way of life, Pitt Island is recognised as the jewel in the Chathams'
crown. Pitt Island is home to some of the world's rarest birds and
plants, and is the first inhabited place in the world to witness each
new day.
Most of Pitt Island's 6300 hectares is privately owned and difficult
to access. Generally Pitt's scenic beauty is only visible from private
property. Flowerpot Adventures has negotiated access with local
landowners to some of Pitt Island's most scenic vantage points and
other points of interest in order to maximise your Pitt Island
encounter. Visitor numbers to Pitt Island are strictly limited to
ensure that the delicate nature and balance of the island is maintained.
It is likely that your visit to Pitt Island will prove the highlight of your Chatham Islands experience!
We look forward to showing you our island.
